So many differences in the world made up of so many different people. Different languages, cultures, and beliefs. Each person has a unique identity and for all of us, it is a basic human right. Of course, this is not entirely true as it is today. Our world's history has fought for decades for human rights and equality. We have come a long way considering the women's suffrage movement and the civil rights era was not too long ago in modern-day history. Had I not taken this class, I would not appreciate or understand the history of our world as much as I do now. I have more of an interest and spark in history. I do know if one thing is for sure, history will always repeat itself, even if it is decades later, or even more. The article argued the importance of inclusion in humanity, specifically with the gay population and the Pride Movement. It is so true, more than ever, gays are coming out and proud. They are supporting each other, alongside community support to fight for equality and justice. Considering the world is facing a pandemic and other Black Lives Matter protests due to racial injustice are happening right now, it is no surprise that "Pride," is at a high peak to stand up for the LGBTQ population. Not only are the people fighting, but so are companies. Big companies like Bud Light and Ben & Jerry's are very attuned to today's world and have made it a point to make public comments to include the LGBTQ community and support for Pride. And though it is no surprise on the amount of money they make or do not make for their support is risky. However; it is important for a company to know who they are and who they are not. Even more, they must show authenticity. Some companies chose not to speak up in fear of siding with only one side and losing business and or refuse to be involved in political issues. It is very admirable to hear from a company when they are true to their word and have a history to support its beliefs. We must learn to live together on this earth, and in peace. Sadly, as history writes, we will not see peace without war.
